Wilsons fame was surpassed by the U.S. during 2014, as she landed a part as a character on Showtimes The Affair. In the show, Wilson performed the role of Alison Lockhart who is a young troubled woman from a dark background. Lockhart has a crush on the love of her life, Noah Solloway. Wilson as well as Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson won a Golden Globe as Best Actress for a Television Series-Drama in the year 2015. Wilson, speaking to British Vogue back in 2015 told British Vogue that she loved acting in two distinct perspective. Noah sees Alison as a confident sexy character. But in real life Alison sees herself as being dowdy. Wilson continued: "I do believe America is moralistic and judgmental, so what happens in the show is quite shocking." Wilson quit the show in 2018 to many fans' surprise, however she didn't provide any specifics. On an interview on CBS This Morning Interview in August 2018, Wilson said, "I did want to quit, but I'm unable to speak about the reasons that led me to leave." The Little Stranger More recently Wilson is now focusing on film roles. She starred in the 2016 film of horror I Am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the house, and also played the mysterious PT Stella character in the 2017 sci-fi rom com How to Talk to Girls in Parties. Wilson will add an additional horror movie to her credits when she appears in the British version of The Little Stranger, a supernatural thriller that is based on the novel by Sarah Waters. Wilson directs the production.
